This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Tom's of Maine.
When I was a kid, getting ready for bed was boring. We used whatever the grownups used to wash our hair, scrub our bodies and brush our teeth. No fun flavors or yummy scents, no cartoon characters on the bottles. No wonder I hated going to bed. Things are so much better in today's world of personal care products for kids! I know, I know, it's the usual You've-got-it-easy-in-my-day-I-had-to-walk-five-miles-to-milk-the-cow story, but as a parent I'm nothing but happy at the way kid-friendly products turn bathing and brushing teeth into a fun, pleasant activity. It goes without saying that the ingredients in a kids' product should be gentle, not harmful. BlogHer Reviews recently sent us a tube of Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste for kids, which I was more than happy to try because I know Tom's of Maine has a reputation for safe, natural and effective. But is Tom's kid-friendly? The Basics Tom's of Maine Natural Anticavity Fluoride Toothpaste for kids is flavored with real fruit flavor oils, not artificial sweeteners. It uses naturally-sourced fluoride to help prevent cavities, and uses calcium and silica to clean. The toothpaste comes in two flavors, Silly Strawberry and Outrageous Orange-Mango. Here's what Tom's has to say about this product: Only one natural oral care company carries the ADA Seal of Acceptance for a children’s toothpaste, Tom’s of Maine Anticavity Children’s Silly Strawberry with Fluoride. And because we care as much as you do, we’ve never tested it on animals or added artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. It’s flavored with natural oils for a great strawberry taste they’ll love. (Check out the Tom's official site) The Bongga The verdict is in: Tom's is definitely kid-friendly. Even the name, Silly Strawberry, and the friendly little parrot on the toothpaste tube got my kids smiling. I asked 3Po if he felt like doing a silly dance while brushing his teeth with the Silly Stawberry toothpaste, and since my kids have been shoved in front of cameras since birth, 3Po was more than happy to comply. So without further ado, here's a video of 3Po brushing himself silly: The Pea got into the act as well: Best of all, this toothpaste is as natural as my kids' smiles! I love the fact that there are no artifical ingredients. No saccharin, or sparkles, just calcium and silica and fluoride. And at about $3 per 4-oz tube, it's reasonably priced! The Blah The Pea gave this toothpaste a very balanced review; she liked the flavor but thought it was too mild: I myself have no problem with the flavor; I quite like the subtle strawberry taste, and I think it smells divine. My problem with the toothpaste is the vintage-y metal tube it comes in. I just find it hard to squeeze and unsightly. Why bother with this kind of 70's era packaging anyway? Can it be recycled? Update 12/18/09: Tom's of Maine has contacted me with an answer to my question above: yes, they do use environmentally sustainable packaging! Two thumbs up to Tom's for their eco-awareness and quick customer response :) The Bottom Line Tomt's of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste gets your kids' teeth clean and healthy without artificial ingredients. And it still manages to look, smell and taste like a kids' toothpaste, which means kids are happy to brush with it. Win It! my children are all grown but I use to buy them fun toothbrushes and flavored toothpaste
I let my kids pick out their own toothpaste. They seem to like that small idea.

I have a partial which I hate but it makes great incentive to get my children to brush.
If they start to whine about not wanting to brush I just take it out and smile. They go immediately and brush there teeth.
Thank you so much for the chance to win.

There's a few things we've found out over time that work. One thing is I show them my teeth. My parents could care less so I have a ton of cavaties. I just show them and ask it they want their teeth to look like mine. This usually get them to brush. They also love our dentist and don't want to disappoint him so they will brush when I bring this up. My dh has also found a way to get my youngest to brush. While he's brushing her teeth she gets to use the hair dryer to clear off the mirror. It seem's to work so I'm not going to knock it. lol Thank you!!
I don't have my own children but I tell the kids I watch that brushing your teeth is the "in" thing that teenagers love to do. They want to be cool like the older kids so it's pretty easy to get them to brush! I also brush with them so we make a game out of it.

Luckily for me, my kids are pretty good about brushing. Just reminders is all they need.

I think I've lucked out and never had a big problem motivating the kids to brush -- though one thing I found that makes it even more fun for them is to surprise them with new flavors and new types of paste (especially the kind that makes their teeth turn colors so they'll know they got all the chompers covered!). Thanks!

My kids are older and have always been good about brushing their teeth. Prolly because I am a fanatic about it as well as I was always making up silly songs for the things we did so it was fun for them.
I have two little boys and what I found that works is I take turns playing each of their favorite songs in the bathroom while they are brushing.
:) Thank you for the wonderful giveaway! :)

My kids have a toothbrush that plays music so they dance a little while brushing.
Fortunately so far it hasn't been a struggle (oh I wish it would stay this way!) - we still help her out but she has never fought as. We did start early though and have been consistent so it's part of the routine.
I provide them with fun toothbrushes and good-tasting toothpaste varieties that encourage them to brush. Thanks for the great contest!
I don't have children that I have to get brush their teeth, but I do have nieces and nephews that stay with me sometimes and I always make brushing their teeth a game. (Things an aunt will do LOL)

I find that once you have reminded them enough it becomes automatic. I no longer have to remind my kids, it is just a normal routine now. I have always let them pick their own toothpaste though, which was important when they were younger.

To get my kids to brush their teeth, I let them choose whatever toothbrush and toothpaste they like. I also take them to a pediatric dentist regularly and they encourage them there. Honestly, they just do it cause they know their teeth will rot out if they don't!

I've stressed that we have to take care of ourselves, that nobody is telling Dad and I to brush our teeth. Its very important and ... then I throw in stuff about how we all want a good checkup when we visit the dentist. They aren't scared of the Dentist but when he says brush your teeth - they seem to hear it better because they tune me out

Hi there!
I would like to burn a theme at this forum. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of ponzy-like structure, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.
For several years , I earn money with the help of these programs.
I'm with no money problems now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and I started with funny 500 bucks.
Right now, I'm very close at catching at last a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.

Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of troubles when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never thought that there weren't any need in large starting capital.
Nowadays, I'm happy and lucky , I begin take up real income.
It's all about how to choose a proper partner who utilizes your funds in a right way - that is incorporate it in real deals, parts and divides the profit with me.
You can ask, if there are such firms? I have to tell the truth, YES, there are. Please get to know about one of them:
