Capri-Sun Sunrise is Making Every Day Better for moms and kids -- and they're going to make one lucky reader's day even better with a $250 VISA gift card! Read on to find out how to enter.
Is it morning already? Mornings are not my strong suit. My kids are up with the sun, but I stay in bed until I absolutely have to get up. I jump out of bed between 7:15 and 7:20, get dressed, get The Pea up and dressed, get breakfast, pack everyone's lunch, and walk The Pea to school. We have to be out the door by 8:00AM, so it's all a rush rush rush! My morning routine is like a finely-tuned precision instrument: throw a cog in it (like discovering we've run out of juice or realizing that The Pea didn't do her homework the night before), and everything falls apart.
So I gladly agreed to try and review Capri-Sun's great new option for streamlining my kids' breakfast: Sunrise, a new breakfast juice drink . We buy Capri-Sun's 100% Juice and Roaring Waters drinks all the time, so my kids didn't need to be asked twice to serve as volunteer taste-testers. They quickly slurped down one of each of the 3 flavors -- Orange Wake Up, Tropical Morning, and Berry Tangerine Morning -- gave me the thumbs up, and proceeded to benchpress their own weight in barbells made out of Knex. Okay, I'm kidding, but with all-natural ingredients, added calcium and 100% daily Vitamin C in each serving, Sunrise will send them off to a good start and a great day. I'm not kidding about the thumbs-up part, though. My kids loved all 3 flavors (my personal favorite is the Orange Wake Up). And since Sunrise comes in prepacked fun pouches, The Pea can get her own drink in the mornings instead of wasting precious time waiting for me to finish unloading the dishwasher before I can pour her some juice. When my morning routine gets messed up, less fuss means less stress!
Speaking of that pouch, yes, the eco-friendliness of disposable drink pouches is an issue, but I have no problem with enjoying the convenience of pre-packed individual servings during the most hectic mornings. They're also perfect for field trips or outdoor summer daycamps or other occasions when my kids leave their lunchboxes behind and we can't ever get them back. Losing and replacing a $17 reusable aluminum bottle four or five times a year isn't going to do the earth or my pocketbook any good! Besides, now that Capri-Sun has partnered with Terracycle.net, you can actually recycle all your Capri-Sun pouches, and earn some cash for your kids' school in the process. How great is that for minimizing your family's eco-footprint and teaching your kids some valuable lessons at the same time?
Yes, Capri-Sun Sunrise is Making Every Day Better for moms and kids, and guess what? The good folks at BlogHer and Capri-Sun Sunrise are going to make someone's day even better, because they have given me a $250 Visa giftcard to give away to one lucky Bonggamom Finds reader! Here's how to enter:

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 811 Newer› Newest»As soon as we get up we all get dressed and make our beds. While the kids are getting dressed I unload the dishwasher and make the breakfast. Following routines helps streamline the morning.
Stick to a routine. From keeping the same bedtime to the order in which you do things in the morning - getting dressed, eating breakfast, etc. If we stray from routine, it's chaos.
JeansandTs@hotmail.com
I bake really great breakfast casseroles and quiches that are easy to toss a slice on a plate and pop it in the microwave and have breakfast done. It is fast, easy, and nutrishous when you add a glass of milk and a piece of fruit.
Our mornings got better when I gave my six year old his own alarm clock. Now he can't fight with the clock and he has to get out of bed to turn the annoying buzzer off, and is a lot less likely to climb back into bed.
We also have an agreement that if he gets dressed and done with breakfast by 7:20, then I will read him books until it's time to go. that has worked wonders.
pick out your clothing the night before and have them set out for the morning. this will save alot of time! yyeres(at)gmail(dot)Com
I'd throw the ingredients in the blender jar the night before, and stick it in the fridge.
We are an "exception" household, I think. My husband stays home with the kids, so there is less of this chaos in the mornings. But, on the kind of morning where we all need to be somewhere, it requires D-Day like planning the night before. I get the kids' clothes ready and prepare my own clothes. Juice and milk cups are prepared and put in the fridge for grabbing. Any items that need to come with us are bagged/boxed and put near the front door or, my favorite, the trunk of the car.
We are the kind of people who are perpetually late, so this helps us not be too late!
I am not a morning person, so our morning routine consists of me rolling out of bed, pulling on sweatpants, and then getting the kids up, dressed, brushed, and out the door. I know I should give them a little more time to get ready, but none of us are good with wake-ups. A healthy juice drink from capri sun would be a good way to boost our mornings.
I purposely set my clock fast, so I can trick myself that I'm actually sleeping in when I hit snooze;) I also like to pack lunches on Sunday for the week my making sandwiches and freezing them, and prebagging (or containers) veggies and such, so in the morning all you do in throw everything in the bag and the sandwich is thawed by lunch.
I force myself to get up 20 minutes before the rest of my family. It gives me a few minutes of quiet to start prep for the day, and the rest of the routine goes a lot smoother!

I eat at work! LOL! I have found that it is a lot faster for me to get ready in the morning and pack breakfast along with my lunch for work and then eat when I get there. If I eat at home I tend to linger and relax and then I end up running late!

Hi!
I don't have any tips on having a better morning as my mornings with my kids are pretty chaotic too! I get everyone dressed before eating just because my 3 year old is the slowest eater ever & getting him dressed takes forever too!

Have clothes ready the night before, know what's for breakfast ahead of time and most importantly, get up early and get that coffee. Thank you!

My best morning tip is to prepare the night before. I lay out clothes and make milk sippy cups the night before. That way all I have to do is hand everything out in the morning.

I get up an hour before anyone else. I walk the dog, gives me time to think, then I go home and make coffee. I set out 3 different cereals, and juice, and the day can begin! Thanks for the great offer ;).
Unfortunately, our morning routine often involves stumbling bleary-eyed out of bed, scrambling to find something the kids will eat (usually a bagel or toast) and then trying to convince them to get dressed.
As soon as the kids get home from school, I have them empty their bookbags into an 'in' box on the dining room table. All papers that need to be signed are signed that night, homework done and checked, and stuffed back into their bookbags. We have gotten into the routine of laying out clothes for the next day as well as packing lunches the night before. I have set up a spot in the pantry with quick breakfasts such as cereal bars, fruit, granola bites and puddings that the kids can grab on their own. At about 10 minutes till it is time to go..I set the stove clock timer as a reminder to get stuff together...they always try to beat their previous time! Thanks for the chance!

My morning routine usually includes getting up before Brea showering, packing my lunch, and getting her clothes together. Then I wake poor Brea up change her diaper get her ready to go to grandma's while I go to work. I am very fortunate because my grandma feeds her breakfast and gets her dressed (after she wakes up the second time) I know if someone else was watching her my morning would be even more hectic. Three kids and the routine really starts the night before. Trick is prep. lunches made, clothes out, backpacks together, bathed, brushed and ready for the morning. If there is time we eat omelettes, little time cereal and no time it's a yo on the go and cereal bar in the car.

My morning routine? I fix breakfast for everybody first and make a big cup of tea for myself. Turn on the morning news to figure out what to wear and whether I'll have trouble getting around (listen for reports of accidents, street closings, etc). Once I am filled with caffeine and informed, I'm ready to face the day.

Unless we're in a rush, we have a quiet time before even getting out of bed. I sit with my son on the bed, and we read a book or just play quietly. This seems to make the rest of the morning go smoothly. Even if we're in a hurry, I try to ensure that we still have at least a little of that time.
I get my tea in my tea-maker the night before so all I have to do in the morning is press the button on the tea maker. Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com

The best way to make for a smooth morning is to work out all the kinks the night before. Make sure to do as much as possible before you go to bed such as: lay out clothes, decide what will be for breakfast (and make sure you have it on hand!),make sure everything that you will need is in a specific place by the front door.
I take my shower of a night, so I don't have to do that in the morning. I get up before my kids, long enough to get dressed and get something to eat for myself. Then the children have to get up and ready! It works for me!

My daughter takes her shower the night before and picks out her clothes then. I take my shower and let my hair dry while I am getting lunches ready and stuff - if it is something I hav to portion out, I do it the night before. I make sure I buy things that are easy to grab and go - it may cost a little more but it is worth it!
Thanks

My biggest tip is that we do not even go downstairs without being fully dressed. This way I am not chasing my 2 year old around to get dressed when I am in a hurry.
I pack lunches the night before and sign all the notes then too as I'm a night owl. I sometimes make breakfast the night before as well so we just have to heat it up. They wear school uniforms so that makes it easy. I don't get up until I have to either.

We do as much as possible the night before. As soon as I get up, I turn everyone's light on and say good morning, then I get in the shower and get ready. Afterward I go back and spend a few minutes talking to my son about the day ahead before I make him get out of bed. When I'm sure he's awake, I have him get dressed while I make breakfast. We eat, then brush teeth and head out the door - usually in 45 mins or less.
I try to get the bookbags ready the night before. Make lunches. Pick out outfits. And get dressed after eating so there will be NO changing clothes after breakfast is has been spilled all over them! That's all I got!
I wake up an hour before I need to get my son up - that way I have plenty of time to drink my coffee and get everything together BEFORE he gets out of bed and the madness begins. That way I don't forget anything!
I try to have most things prepared the evening before. Lunches especially. Breakfast can be portioned out in containers (cereal). Place items by the doorway that have to be remembered for the day.

We have a breakfast menu that is the same every week. Each child has assignments for their part of that menu. This gets us up and running fast in spite of a non-morning-person mom.
I actually try to take care of things the night before for my son. we lay out his clothes and I make his lunch and put it in the fridge. Than my husband gets up with him to feed him breakfast and put him on the bus. So much more hectic when I do not do these things the night before.
Thanks so much for this opportunity. What my family and I do is get everything that we can ready the night before. I get all of there clothes laid out, lunches packed, and as much breakfast items ready the night before. I also get all my clothes and coffee ready to make before I go to bed. It really helps and makes the morning a lot less chaotic!

When raising my children, what helped most was that I got up an hour before the rest of my family. I had a quiet breakfast, packed lunches and made the family breakfast. My boys were not hard to get up and going...

Oh my goodness, our mornings are always FRANTIC! With a toddler and a baby, trying to get all three of us fed, dressed and out the door in a timely manner is a challenge. I've learned to always pack the diaper bag the night before, and to put the toddler in the car without his shoes because they are easier to put on once he's strapped in, AND he takes them off all the time anyway. Really, I wish I had a magic wand I could wave to get us all dressed and ready!

When my oldest daughter started school she would always eat breakfast first in the morning. It was then always a struggle and rush to get everything else done. Now I have switched the routine and everything (dressed, teeth, hair, bed) has to be done before she eats. She learned really fast that it wasn't any fun to eat as fast as she could before the bus came!
We do our best to get organized the night before, set out clothes and get backpacks ready to grab and go. Sure does help in the mornings!
School starts for all 4 at 7am so we are up at 5 at the latest. Preparing everything the night before always helps to stay out of time crunches in the morning.
I had to get into a routine,I like to get the clothes and showers ready and done at night and when everyone gets up ,breakfast ,brush teeth and go

We pack backpacks and gym clothes or anything that needs to be taken to school, the night before. We keep lots of "quick & easy" type foods available to grab & eat in the van in case we're ever running late.

Pack the night before!
Make sure everything is signed, packed, shoes are found, clothes laid out... etc. It makes mornings MUCH smoother and makes the kids responsible for their items the night before.
Promise them a home cooked breakfast on Sunday's, that way, during the week you can do something simple. Bagels, etc.
Unless it is standardized testing, then I always cook them a huge breakfast, bacon, eggs, etc... they need the brain power :)
Oh.. and smoothies are great in the mornings!....

I have a multi-pouch bag that hangs on the inside of my front door. Before I go to bed, I fill it either with the things that I need to take with me or a note about the things I need to get in the morning (like lunch). Having the bag ON the door means I never have to look for it and I don't have to take so much as one step out of my way to grab it in the mornings. It's amazing!
krtrumpet [at] aol [dot] com
I plan lunches for the next day, the night before, so it is super fast to make and pack lunches in the mornings. I have lunch boxes already laid out, with a fork or spoon, napkins, and anything that doesn't need to be refrigerated.
I do everything possible the night before. I lay out clothes and have the table set for breakfast. The kids have to make sure their backpacks and books are packed and ready by the door.
techyone at gmail dot com
For the yummy drink on a weekday morning I suggest some weekend prep.
If you peel bananas you can freeze them and use frozen strawberries as well. Bag enough fruit for one morning to make it easy.
As for the Orange Wake Up drinks, cut them open the night before and pour them into your blender and put it into the fridge.
In the a.m. dump in your yogart and fruit then blend and drink. That didn't take too long.

We definitely lay things out the night before, but it is still pretty chaotic. I think smoothies are great during the week, but only if most of it is pre-made in the blender, ready to go.
I plan for the morning the night before. Clothes are laid out, bags are packed (we homeschool so this would be diaper bags or bags for the days activities, but could easily be backpacks), and the breakfast table is set. I put all dry ingredients together for the morning breakfast and then call it a night.

My teen son is not the easiest one to wake. I usually start 10 minutes before I really want him up. I turn his light on and start telling him to get up, in the mean time I'm cooking breakfast and usually when it's done he'll be out rubbing his eyes.

Getting to bed on time and making sure things are set out ahead of time, this makes morning routines run much smoother.

I think our routine works best because we do it in rounds. I get up first at 5:30-6, start the husband's coffee, get breakfast cooking, 6:15, I wake up Caity, send her to the bathroom (where her clothes for the day rest on the sink counter) to potty, brush her teeth and get dressed. She's usually sitting down eating by 6:35 and I go in and wake up Izzie, who I change, set at the table to eat, then wake up DH who gets dressed. All kids and hubby are up/dressed and fed by 7:20 and we leave the house at 7:35 to drop Cait off at school
I make little "Egg muffins" 12 @ a time in a silicone muffin pan. Usually 4 each of 3 varieties (like canadian bacon, green onion & swiss or smoked salmon, goat cheese & dill, ect.) I pack them 2 to a snack bag. They can be reheated or eaten cold.
I use to be the type that hit the snooze and barely makie it to work on time. Then I had KIDS. They became the alram without a snooze button!
So, when they were old enough to sleep through the night, I would set my alarm for 3 hours or so before they woke up for me and my husbands time to ourselves and to wake up slowly instead of in a panic. Yes, sometimes we lost some sleep, but, we made sure to go to bed early so we did not loose much. This was all about us, coffee, well balanced breakfast and planning sessions. Then we were able to wake the kids slowly and have them get off to a calm and nutrisous start to their day. They would pick out their clothes and do their own rituals in their own time. No fights, it was so nice! I believe that if Papa and I did not have this time together we would have not celebrated our 21st anniversay yesterday.
Let the girls make it while you are doing other things. You could make it ahead and then freeze it.

My advice for a weekday smoothie is to make it the night before! You can put all the ingredients in the blender pitcher at night, keep it in the fridge, and in the morning just add ice and give it a whir!
My morning routine, I like to get up before everyone else, start coffee and get my mind working so I can handle getting everyone else! I always start laundry as soon as I get up while coffe is brewing, I think it is a part of my routine and helps me subconscienly keep groovin.
i make lunches, etc. the night before, anything that can be done earlier, gets done then
i make sure i get a good breakfast and coffee to help jumpstart my mornings
I try to wake up my son gently. His giggles help my morning attitude imensely. The best tip I have is to leave a little extra time in your morning schedule for the unexpected. It will help keep your sanity and make the rest of the morning run more smoothly.
I get my son up at 6:30. Make him breakfast. He gets dressed walks to the bus stop. Then my daughter gets up after he leaves, because they go to 2 diff. schools and have to be there at diff. times. Then she eats break. and gets dressed. Then I walk her to the bus.

I'm definitely not a morning person, I have no speed to my routine (or lack thereof) but of all the things that I do, the one thing that helps me the most is always packing up my diaper bag the night before if we need to go somewhere the next morning, and having a quick breakfast ready... The best way to save some time in the morning is to prepare yourself the night before; for example pick out each of the kids outfits they are going to wear the next day and leave them hanging on their doors or somewhere easy to find. The more things prepared the night before, saves so much time in the morning :)!

I put everyone's non-refrig needed breakfast on the table the night before....a banana, cereal, breakfast bar....anything that doesn't need refrig. is pput on each persons plate, so they can help themselves.
My routine has gone to pot, but when I'm employed I get up early when it's nice and quiet to get a few things done. I also set my alarm on my cell phone for 10 minutes before I have to leave the house in the morning as I have a tendency to lose track of time.

I don’t have too many problems getting my family out of bed. I wake them up singing and leave the light on in their rooms until they walk out (usually doesn’t take long). I try to have breakfast ready and waiting for them when they wonder in. I also have their outfits ready and sitting out for them (get together while they are eating).
One thing I do that speeds up our breakfast ritual, is letting more my toddler help. If he helps, he's more apt to sit down without squiggling and eat.
I actually don’t have any other struggles with getting little man to eat breakfast. The main problem is getting him to not eat everything! lol We alternate foods having oatmeal one morning, pancakes the next, cereal and fruit.

I wake up and start making eggs and waffles. Then I pack my lunch for the day and head out the door!

We all have a set bedtime and a set wake up time. The kids are responsible for themselves (even the 5 year old) and the adults take care of themselves too :-) It's very smooth and peaceful in our house in the mornings. Good luck to you :-)

I find my morning is much easier if I make sure my lunch is packed the night before. This is what always seems to slow me down in the morning.

I recommend making it the night before and freezing it. Then pull it out of freezer while you take shower and then it will thaw out enough to enjoy.
One morning routine of ours is having cereal every weekday morning (our family loves cereal). And then as a special treat I always make homemade pancakes on Sunday after church!
I try to get as much as I can ready the night before. I get clothes ready when we are doing laundry during the weekend. Then all I have to track down is milk for the baby and shoes for our older girl. It makes for a quieter start for me.

During the week I make sure everyone's clothes are out the night before so in the morning's no one is asking "where are my jeans?" "has anyone seen my pink top?" "why do I only have on shoe???"
beautywelz(at)yahoo(dot)com
i get up a little earlier than everyone else and spend some time reviewing what needs to get done during the day.
My best tip(s) would be to do as much as you can the night before. Pick out your outfits and have them ready to go, prepare things for breakfast the night before(such as scramble eggs, put into container and place in the fridge) and set your alarm for 10-20 minutes before you actually need to get up so you can hit snooze a few times without it being a bit deal. Thanks.

My daughter is three and doesn't go to school yet, so we have a pretty leisurely routine - I am so lucky.
We get up about eight and go down for breakfast. Most days we have cold cereal, but sometimes oatmeal or eggs.
Then we head back upstairs to get dressed for the day.
We love to sing Good Morning - the song from Singin' in the Rain or Wake Up, Wake Up from Lazytown.

I actually made checklists for my kids. The little one can't read yet so hers has pictures. It saves me from nagging. To tell you the truth it fell by the wayside about a month ago, but they're pretty squarely in their routine now. I'm sure we'll need the lists again in September.

the thing that makes my mornings easier is being up and showers and dressed before michael gets up.
Easy peasey routine. Wake up, change diaper and eat breakfast. All while watching Noggin. :)
It works wonders for this household!
Great giveaway. I tweeted about it too!

for some reason my first comment didn't show, so I'm sorry if this shows twice. I said my secret to a good morning is to make sure I'm dresses and showered and ready before Michael gets up.
My morning routine starts about 45 minutes before my 5 school aged children awaken.I make my coffee,"find my groove" and set the dinette up for a warm, fresh breakfast, complete with glasses for milk/OJ and their flintstones vitamins marking the place settings. As a rule, clothing (including all underclothes) have been approved and laid out the night before. The lunches and backpacks, school supplies, and shoes have also been prepared the night before. Doing this really saves time in my house because once my kids are up, mornings are crazy! The kids are required to tidy their beds before coming down for breakfast, also.

I try to do as much as possible the night before- pack lunches, lay out clothes, set the table for breakfast, etc. Somehow being ready and having an established routine makes things run a little smoother even on the most hectic days!

My morning routine tip would be to take time for yourself first. A little bit of exercise to get the body going does me good. I also love drinking a morning protein smoothie. Then I start my day.
I know how you can save enough time to make your breakfast treat on weekends. The Capri Sun has enough sugar in it to prevent it from freezing into a solid, unbrreakable block, so just freeze the packets overnight. The next morning simply smack the drinks on the edge of the counter a couple times before cutting open the bottoms of the packages and dumping them into the blender on top of the chopped up fruit and the yoghurt. In less than 2 minutes you'll have smoothies.
You can also stick a frozen drink in with each lunch as an ice pack. It will keep the food cold and by lunchtime will be either completely thawed but still cold, or just a little bit slushy, which children love.

Getting my 3 guys up is the biggest challenge! However, can't have alot of extra time, otherwise they get into things, start running around, making me nuts. Its best to have just a minimum amount of time and then they rush around and eat, get ready on their own - they are afraid to be late for school.

I make my morning routine much simpler by laying out all clothes the night before from shirt to shoes, making certain that my son's backpack is by the back door and that my purse is also packed and ready on a counter near the back door. I also set my coffee maker the night before so that when I wake up, my caffeine fix is ready. Because I am such a "must-eat breakfast" fanatic, but really hate giving sweetened cereals in the AM, I tend to purchase instant Cream of Wheat and oatmeal, both of which are easy to fix and ready-to-go.
I know that's a lot of info, but, seriously, five to ten minutes the night before seems to save 20-30 minutes in the morning.

I have my clothes ironed the night before and my things, purse, phone keys are by the back door so I can grab them and go. My daughter is a teen so she does her own routine so I don't have to worry about getting her up and ready.

When the alarm goes off I get up and take some caffeine pills then go back to bed until they wake me up.
I get up before anyone shut the home security system and get the paper. Turn the coffee on and stick my head in the refrigerator and find something good for breakfast. Read the paper with my coffee and welcome the family one by one at the table.

We took baths the night before and always has time for breakfast
Sounds to me like you need to get some of your morning routine done the night before--ie--homework checked--in backpack--waiting at door--lunch made and waiting in fridge to put in lunch bag--clothes out and waiting.

Do as much the night before as possible (no skimping) and you should get up 20 minutes earlier than you think so you don't have to rush so much. Thanks,
Maureen (jnomaxx at hotmail dot com)
I get up 1-2 hours ahead of the kids for some peace and quite and to straighten the place up before having to deal with them.
Lay it all out the night before (on a tray in the fridge to have it all cold), then just dump it in in the morning while the coffee brews.
Make South Beach style egg muffins in advance & freeze them. They're like individual tasty quiches stuffed with veggies- hardly noticeable! They reheat in 1 minute, too.
One thing I "try" to do is on a weekend make up a BIG batch to use for the entire week and then either put it in the fridge or freezer adn you can have it for the entire week. You could even put half in the fridge for the first few days and the other half in the freezer for the end of the week, when you notice its getting low, take the rest out to defrost.
I have a "lunch" area where I keep everything needed for packing lunches. Makes it a "one-stop" for the five lunches I make each school day.

I make the next day's lunches the night before. It's a sanity saver. I don't know HOW HARD a PB Jelly sandwich is but at 6:30 AM it's pretty dayam hard.
I try to lay out my kids clothes the night before and have their lunches partially made. I also make sure their backpacks are by the door.

Oh, please enter me in the giveaway. Don't have kids at home, so don't have any tips to share.
I only have one child and she's in daycare so my mornings are fairly easy. The best tip is to get enough sleep so you can wake up early to get a headstart. :)
